Time to Think Ahead to Show Season
You might think that it is too early to worry about show season, but now is the time to start planning!
Your crias are growing and you are starting to think about which ones to enter in the fall shows. Although the typical turnaround time at ARI for registrations is only three weeks, you never know when a problem might arise. Registering them early gives you time to work through any problems without the stress of a tight deadline. It also gives you plenty of time to obtain any necessary authorizations that you may need from dam and sire owners.
If you aren’t sure whether you are going to breed an alpaca you can register it as a non-breeder for only $20 online. This is a fully pedigreed registration. If at any time you decide to breed the alpaca, simply upgrade the registration to breeding status by paying the difference in registration fees (calculated at the age when you originally registered the alpaca) plus a $5 data change fee and a $5 certificate reprint fee. And the best thing is that the lab work and DNA validation has already been done!
A typical transfer takes less than two weeks; if we have payment and all the necessary paperwork from the buyer and seller. A transfer within 90 days of the sale is $30 online, but if you wait till after 90 days, it increases to $50 online. Getting transfers taken care of as soon as the sale is complete, or within 90 days, saves you money. It also assures you that you have your new ARI certificate ready for any upcoming shows.
So as the fall show season quickly approaches, please get your new registrations and transfers in.
